N9BLE Adventures

Well it has been a fun and busy 2025 for us!

It was time for an upgraded tow vehicle that fit our needs and plans for the coming years. So a 2025 GMC Sierra 2500HD was purchased for our camping adventures!!

The kids have nicknamed it “Storm Trooper”, I’m not one for naming vehicles though.

Our first big trip with the new truck was back up to our favorite area, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It was a cold and rainy time when we were there, but we still had a great time.

From there it was onto Kohler- Andrae State Park in Sheboygan, WI for a few days to relax and take in the nicer weather and another wonderful Wisconsin state park. The campsites are nicely wooded and have some seclusion from the neighbors, we tend to go for more secluded sites as we just enjoy the privacy a little more.

We also went to Castle Rock Lake, Wisconsin Dells, Baraboo, and Devils Lake all in Wisconsin on other trips over the summer.

I enjoy making contacts on amateur radio. I take one of my radios, a Yaesu FT-891, with me while camping and make contacts while at the campsite and operate while portable. I do something called Parks on the air (POTA for short). I use a couple different antenna setups, one being a wire in a tree or an antenna mounted on a magnet on my truck. I also make contacts while at home as well on a different radio than what I bring camping.

We own a 2022 KZ Sportsmen 260BHSE. It’s served us very well so far and we really enjoy it. It’s our first hard sided camper, we had a pop up prior to this. My wife and I had tent camped all our lives up until we bought this. We’ve been to 3 states so far with it, and we plan to expand that in the coming years.
